This sweet ceremony is personally designed by me for you to deliver with depth and care the placenta back to the Earth.
There are many ways we can create this ceremony, my personal favourite is buring the placenta in the ground near your home or somewhere significant for you and planting a preferred tree sapling above the buried plancenta.
This intention of this ceremony no matter what we do, is to celerbate and honor the unique life giving miracle of the placenta, alongside healing, releasing and closing the birth giving journey, so you may step forwards into motherhood with clarity and newness.
This experience can be very healing, especially for mothers who are still processing emotion and trauma around their birth giving journey. I usually recommend in this case that we sit together before the ceremony to visit consciously your inner experience, to listen deeply to every angle of your experience and honor what is occuring for you and bury the placenta when you feel ready to let go.
This practice of celebrating and honoring the placenta is ancient, and this incredible life giving organ is referred to in many myths and creation stories all over the world as being deeply healing and magical organ.
In Indonesia the placenta is called, Ari-ari which means guardian angel and it is common practice to burying the placenta ceremonially at the family home to be near the growing baby protecting them into their adult. In India, Japan and indonesia there are varying references and mythology centering around the placenta, referring to it as a Tree of Life, due to its ability to mimic the exact functions of a tree; delivering nutrients, moisture, and oxygen that sustain life on Earth, as well as life in the Womb. In the Vedic Ancient Hindu Text the worlds placenta is referred to as Gonharua Visvavasu, The Rainbow Genius/ Earth Mothers Placental Dragon.
